Even In the Midst of a Pandemic, God Can Still Be Found

Inside the Pandemic Looking Out: Even There, We Find God Present
by Minister Paul J. Bern
Since we are all right in the middle of the ongoing Corona-virus pandemic , I have been feeling led and sometimes inspired by the Holy Spirit of our risen Lord and Savior to find examples of sickness, diseases and plagues within the Scriptures that I can relate to the current pandemic. All kinds of people have surely wondered to themselves why pandemics like the Corona-virus exist in the first place. Why does God allow these things to occur? In large part it’s because so many people aren’t living right. More about this in just a minute, so hold on
But I don’t blame only the people who make up different demographics for the spread of the Corona-virus. There is substantial evidence that those in positions of leadership were too slow to react when the Corona-virus was first identified as a potentially lethal pathogen back in November 2019. Once again, after so many times before, those who are in charge of our government were asleep at the switch. They have been much too busy looking at porn, or engaging in chat rooms talking about God knows what, or maybe they’re surfing the dating websites, while collecting their paychecks. How convenient for them….
The Bible has a few things to say about this, so I went and dug up a few verses. The first one is a quote from God Almighty through Moses, from the Old Testament, and I quote: “26) …and when they pray toward this place and give praise to your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them, 27) then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel. Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance. 28) “When famine or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when enemies besiege them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come, 29) and when a prayer or plea is made by anyone among your people Israel — being aware of their afflictions and pains, and spreading out their hands toward this temple — 30) then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive, and deal with everyone according to all they do”, (2 Chronicles 6, verses 26–30)
