Jesus Rebukes the Religious Leaders of His Own Faith

(Luke chapter 13, verses 1–17)

For this week’s installment of my Social Gospel Biblical study series, we’ll be moving on to chapter 13 of Luke’s gospel as we continue our in-depth study of the writings of the apostle Luke. This series of Biblical commentaries on the writings of the apostles is the second book in this series. The other volume of Biblical studies I have published are those of the apostle Paul, called “The Apostles In Plain English Volume 1” (slightly different title, same contents), and you can find out more about that book from here. But for now let’s go ahead and get started at verse one of this week’s study.

“Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, ‘Do you think all these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them — do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.’
