For this week’s lesson, we’ll be getting in-depth regarding chapter 10 of 2nd Corinthians, in our ongoing Biblical Study Series of the writings of the apostle Paul. When we concluded chapter 9 last week, Paul wrote about — among other things — how God’s grace and human generosity go hand in hand, calling it an “indescribable gift”. In chapter 10, Paul seems to move on to the topic of differentiating ourselves from the rest of the world as well as defending the Gospel and keeping it separate from the rest of the world by preserving its sanctity. Let’s begin at verse 1.

Part One of This Week’s Bible Verses for Study and Memorization

By the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you — I, Paul, who is ‘timid’ when face to face with you, but ‘bold’ when away! I beg you that when I come I may not be as bold as I expect to be toward some people who think that we live by the standards of this world. For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up after the knowledge of God
