Retail Therapy? What, Are You Kidding Me?

I came across something on the internet this morning that I simply had to share with you all. Since we’re right in the middle of the Holiday season, it seems fitting and proper that this be drawn to everyone’s attention. As the title states, I need to talk with you about “retail therapy”. The Cambridge dictionary defines retail therapy as “the act of buying special things for yourself in order to feel better when you are unhappy; e.g. ‘I needed a lot of retail therapy to help me get over my ex-boyfriend.’ Google defines retail therapy or shopping therapy is shopping with the primary purpose of improving the buyer’s mood or disposition. It occurs either due to people taking pleasure in shopping or during periods of depression or stress. Spending all your money as a form of therapy isn’t therapeutic at all, it’s a form of financial suicide.
